DEM Grant Opportunity – Recommendation to participate in grant application for a Boat Cleaning
System
● Not only do we face milfoil problems annually, but hydrilla is already in a couple of RI lakes. Hydrilla is
an aquatic plant that has earned the illustrious title “world’s worst invasive aquatic plant” & its rapid spread
far surpasses the spread rate for milfoil.
● If grant is received, grant recipient pays for the unit up front; DEM then reimburses half the cost.

● A decision is needed at this meeting, because of the grant deadline.
● This would be part of a Save the Lakes application, with the likelihood of one or more other lakes also
participating
